Two major events aimed at helping develop children`s art and support children`s sports are set to take place in early July. On July 6, Tashkent`s Japanese Garden will welcome the public to attend “In the Name of Life” Charity Ball, which will include a charity auction and a concert. The other event is the 5th Kichkintoy (Baby) Rhythmic Gymnastics Open Tournament, scheduled for July 7 at “Uzbekistan” Sports Complex, which will feature 200 young gymnast girls.

Solar and wind energy aids rural medical facilities

Four rural medical posts in Namangan, Andijan, Samarkand and Jizzakh regions have been fitted with modular systems powered by solar and wind energy. The systems have been put into operation under the project “Alternative Energy Sources for the Social Sector” run by Fund Forum and the SISF in an effort to ensure uninterrupted supply of energy for medical equipment and boost the quality of medical services.

A hundred days remain until this year’s Style.Uz Art Week, a far-reaching mega project that is expected to plunge Tashkent into cultural frenzy for six days with a dizzying variety of events. Scheduled for October 4-9, 2012, the Week promises to be as exciting and memorable as previous editions as it offers a rich art menu. One of the highlights of the upcoming Week is the 6th Tashkent International Photo Biennale. Other major events include the 3rd International Theatre Festival “Theatre.Uz”, Tashkent International Cinema Forum “Golden Guepard” as well as exhibitions, catwalk shows, charity concerts, social events, workshops, conferences and many more.

Around 1,000 children invited to charity concert

Amidst ongoing broad celebrations of the International Child Protection Day, Tashkent’s Istiqlol Palace hosted a charity concert titled “We Are One Family. Adults + Children = Building a Future Together”. As many as 1,000 tickets to the concert that featured Uzbek pop stars were distributed free of charge among children from orphanages.

Uzbek artist reveals her world vision at solo show

Up-and-coming Uzbek artist Umidahon Azimjonova is showing her art at an exhibition titled “Humans and…” at Tashkent’s Youth Art Palace. The artist’s solo show features paintings, graphic works, sketches of jewelry items and many more, created in diverse styles and genres. The works on display represent the artist’s vision of the world, with each piece imbued with individuality and sharing a kind of vivacity that the colors lend to them.
