Sale of race T-shirts kicks off

With just 2 weeks to go until Susan G. Komen Uzbekistan Race for the Cure, a major fundraiser in support of breast cancer patients scheduled for May 1, the sale of race participant T-shirts kicked off at the Fund Forum office in Tashkent. Nearly 500 T-shirts have been sold on the first day of the sale, with crowds of would-be buyers lined up at the entrance to Fund Forum. The proceeds from the sale of T-shirts will go toward supporting breast cancer patients in Uzbekistan.

Those who have purchased race participants T-shirts so far include school children, university students, whole families, members of various organizations and companies and other people, young and old alike. They have bought T-shirts for themselves, their friends and family members. The T-shirts, available in various sizes, are white and feature the logos of race organizers, partners and sponsors.

Diyora Yunusova, a second-year student at Tashkent State Economic University:

- “I bought two T-shirts for myself and my younger brother who attends college. We want to help women with breast cancer and make a little contribution to a charitable cause. Almost all of my friends have decided to participate in the race. So, that’s going to be a great opportunity to get together and meet many interesting people who share the goal of contributing to the fight against breast cancer.”

Denis Nematov, a worker:

- “I learned about the breast cancer race recently on TV and decoded to participate. Many of my friends have also purchased T-shirts today. I am very happy that we have an opportunity to join such a big race which will help many people. I will now be able to do something good along with many people and to help breast cancer sufferers in my country.”

Race participant T-shirts may be purchased daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fund Forum office at 80 Uzbekistan Street, Tashkent.
